ryandaythompson: Anarchism is simply the acknowledgement that tyrants are tyrants, that depravity is depravity, that corruption is corruption, and that injustice is injustice. The Fascist Threat →
This article provides an excellent overview of fascism and why it pervades virtually all of the current world governments. I don’t agree with everything Rockwell says about “The Future.” I don’t place much hope in the ability of human beings to fix things.

Amor por Juárez
In Ciudad Juárez, you see these signs painted in various places:   (Photo by Dan Newsom) After visiting there, seeing the conditions, and meeting the people, I now have “amor por Juárez.” As part of the “21 Days of Prayer” campain at Casas por Cristo, Day 1 (that’s today) is the day we are praying for Juárez. Visit the Casas por Cristo blog, watch the video for...

Green Chili Stew
I don’t think I’ve ever posted a recipe here before, but I’m proud of the Green Chili Stew I made for dinner.  When I was in El Paso in July, I ate at Rudy’s BBQ. I had their Green Chili Stew, and loved it. I thought I could probably make something similar to it at home, and I finally got around to trying it today. Ingredients 1.5 lb pork loin cut into 1/2-inch...

ronniemartin: What does one do to alleviate the dull ache that idols create in the heart of the Christian? I think when we talk about patterns of self centeredness we aren’t talking about getting rid of something as much as we’re talking about replacing something. In other words, there’s a place for that…

An Absurd Tribute
In her excellent essay at the Dissident Voice site, No Way to Honor Dr. King, Medea Benjamin points out many of the absurdities of the ceremonies surrounding the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. The fact that the Memorial was built in Washington strikes me as absurd from the very beginning. It seems to me Washington, D.C. is a symbol for all the things Dr. King fought...

Something I Hate
I don’t hate anyone. I really try hard to “love my neighbor as myself,” although I am pretty much a miserable failure at it, but I don’t actually hate anyone. There is at least one thing I do hate, though: the pathetic business practices of the newspaper The Tennessean.  Many years ago, I subscribed to The Tennessean. When I signed up, I only purchased a Sunday...

My Goofy Little Cowgirl
When my daughter was two (I think), we turned what was then the guest bedroom into her “big girl” room. While we were in the process of painting, she came into the room and found a lamp shade lying in the floor. She proceeded to use the lamp shade as a hat while riding her small, wooden rocking horse. My wife captured the moment with her camera:
